Homeschool Preschool Weekly Lesson Plans

Creating Simple & Meaningful Weekly Preschool Lesson Plans with Sonlight

Planning homeschool preschool can feel like a big task—especially when you’re trying to balance faith, fun, and foundational learning. But the good news? It doesn’t have to be overwhelming!

With a thoughtful weekly lesson plan and a gentle, literature-rich curriculum like Sonlight Preschool, you can create a warm, engaging, and Christ-centered learning rhythm your little one will love.

Why Use Weekly Lesson Plans for Preschool?

Preschoolers thrive on structure and routine, but they also need flexibility for play, creativity, and wonder.

A weekly plan gives you just enough structure to stay consistent while still allowing space for natural learning moments—like cuddly read-alouds, nature walks, or unplanned deep conversations about God’s creation.

How We Use Sonlight for Our Preschool Plans

One of the reasons I love using Sonlight’s Preschool Curriculum is that it focuses on living books—beautiful, classic stories that spark imagination and build vocabulary.

Each week, I create a simple plan that weaves Sonlight’s booklist together with:

  • Bible memory and devotions

  • Gentle pre-academic skills (like early literacy and math)

  • Faith-based activities

  • Hands-on play and creativity

Let me show you what a typical week looks like for us!

Tips for Making It Work

  • 💡 Don’t try to do it all – Some days we read just one book, and that’s okay.

  • 🕊️ Let the Holy Spirit lead – Make space for curiosity and questions.

  • 🧺 Keep it simple – Some of our best moments happen in the in-between.
